New Delhi: The death sentence of Nimish Priya in Yemen has not been overturned, news agency Annie on Tuesday, citing sources.Sources told ANI, “The information being shared by some persons on the Nimisha Priya case is incorrect.”Earlier, the office of the Indian Grand Mufti had said that the death sentence has been overturned after a high level meeting held in Sana. The statement said, “Nimish Priya’s death sentence, which was previously suspended, has been overturned.”He said, “A high-level meeting held in Sanaa decided to completely cancel the death sentence, which was first temporarily suspended.”The 37-year-old nurse from Kerala moved to Yemen for Nimisha work and later participated with a local person, Talal Abdo Mahdi, to establish a clinic in 2015-foreigners could not have business there since a legal work-round. But what started as a professional system soon became frightening.Mahdi allegedly manipulated a wedding photo taken during a visit to India to claim that she was married to Nimisha, seizing the control of the clinic, and began to increase her monthly earnings. Her family alleges that she has repeatedly subjected her to misconduct, including physical torture, drug-motivated attacks, and seizing her passports to prevent her from avoiding Yemen to seize her passport. Instead of going to the police and getting security briefly, Nimisha allegedly tried to seduce Mahdi to receive her passport. When a strong dose was used, Mahdi died of overdose – which convicted Nimisha’s arrest and murder.(This is a developing story)
