Draft roll parties and individuals will be available for claims and objections by 1 September.
On Saturday, the Election Commission said that since the Bihar draft voter list was published nine days ago on 1 August, no political party has contacted the role of individuals to include or delete the names of individuals.
The draft rolls will be available for claims and objections by 1 September, under which parties and individuals can seek to include eligible citizens and exclude those who believe that they are ineligible.
The EC said that between August 1 and August 9 (Saturday), any booth-tier agent appointed by the parties has not contacted the poll officials in the process of claims and objections.
On the other hand, 7,252 persons have contacted the list of draft voters to include or delete the names.
“The Election Commission is repeatedly telling that no qualified voter is to be abandoned and no unqualified voter is involved in the last election role of Bihar.
An executive officer said, “Submit your claims and objections to improve any error in Bihar’s draft role.”
Even after nine days, no claim or objection has been given by any political party, the worker said.
The draft list is part of the ongoing intensive amendment (SIR) of Bihar’s voter list by EC, which is facing opposition from opposition parties as they claim that the practice will deny many qualified citizens for documents.
Demanding a debate on the issue, the opposition protests stayed in both houses of Parliament since the monsoon session began on July 21.
The EC has said that no qualified citizen will be left out of the electoral role.
The final electoral roll will be published on 30 September.
