Openai has launched the latest version of its AI model GPT-5, now available to both developers through free and paid CATGPT users through API. The company said that GPT -5 improves the ability of argument, speed, accuracy and mathematics.
At the launch event, CEO Sam Altman highlighted the growing importance of the Indian market. “India is our second largest market in the world after America, and it can become our greatest,” he said. “The users with AI in India are quite remarkable.”
Altman said that OpenaiI is working with local partners to improve AI’s ability and access in India. He also confirmed the plan to visit the country in September.
Openai said that GPT-5 is its most capable model for coding and agent works. It is available in three sizes: GPT-5, GPT-5-Min and GPT-5-Nano, allowing developers to be selected between performance and cost. In API, GPT-5 is an argument model, while a lighter, non-renning variants, called GPT-5-Ch-Latest are also available.
Altman stated that GPT-5 is an important advance from GPT-4, especially in expert level reactions. “This is the first time when one of our mainline models seems like talking to a PhD-level expert,” he said. “We wanted to make it available in our free tier for the first time.”
The users of the Chatgpt team can already reach GPT-5, in which enterprises and EDU customers may get it next week. The GPT-5 Pro, which provides extended arguments, will also be rolled out for these customers soon.
