The Pentagon has created a new medal for service members, who have deployed on the southern border to assist federal law enforcement with action on illegal immigration of President Donald Trump.
The Pentagon unveiled plans for a Mexican border defense medal for American soldiers serving the Joint Task Force Southern Border, on August by the Pentagon as per a new memorandum. 13 was shared on social media.

Now, service members will receive the Mexican Border Defense Medal (MBDM) instead of the Service Medal (AFSM) of the Armed Forces, as if they were earlier earned to support customs and border security on the border, the Memo said.
Originally, the service medal of the Armed Forces, created in 1996 by former President Bill Clinton, is honored to soldiers who have participated in a military campaign with “important activity”, but according to the US Army Description of the medal, not encountered foreign armed opposition or impeccable hostile action.

Eligible people for the award should be deployed from January 20 to support customs and border security, and should be served within 100-notical miles from the international border shared with Mexico in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona or California.
Those who have also served in adjacent water 24 miles from the border are also eligible.
Memo said, “Members of the service would have been permanently assigned, attached, or a unit has been expanded, which was deployed to participate in a specified DOD military operation that supported CBP within (eligibility area) for 30 consecutive or non -non -priest days (period of prize).”
