Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Italia on Wednesday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Harish Khurana, saying he was “not better than a petty troll” to share an alleged A-edit “and connected him to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s attacker Rajesh Sakaria.
He questioned whether Khurana considered the honor of his late father, former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, before being engaged in such works.
Italia alleged that the BJP was disappointed at her by -election victory in Vishwavadar, Gujarat, and was trying to convince him, AAP and party leader Arvind Kejriwal.
“Ever since I won as an MLA from Visvadar, the BJP has become upset and angry. They do not digest that a new political background from a new party like AAP, won against him. Outside the frustration, they are trying to ugly me, my party and our leader, Arvind Kejriwal.”
He said, “We come from people; they are our strengths. BJP resorts to crooked ways to defame us. The behavior of a BJP leader from Delhi is very embarrassing, derogatory and wrong,” he said.
Addressing Khurana directly, Italia said, “By editing an old video of mine and adding a picture of another man, what are you trying to show? Do your father, who earned respect through hard work, be happy to see your son spreading fake news?”
He urged the media and BJP leaders to verify the facts before sharing or broadcasting uncomfortable claims.
Italia warned, “Don’t run the news based on the tweet of this petty troll. If it continues, I will be forced to take legal action.”
After sharing a social media post, Khurana created a controversy that Italia was linked to the attacker. Italia denied the claim, saying that the photo was AI-Janit with an old video, and shared the original video as proof.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has booked Rajesh Sakaria under Section 109 (1) of the Indian Justice (BNS) for attempting to murder. Police said it is a “serial criminal” in Gujarat with several previous cases, which is ending to be acquitted.
