Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appreciated the NDA’s decision to nominate Maharashtra Governor CP Radkrishnan as a candidate for the Vice Presidential elections on 9 September.
In a post on X, Modi praised Radhakrishnan, saying that he has distinguished himself with his dedication, humility and intelligence.
Modi said, “In his long years in public life, Thiru CP Radhakrishnan ji has distinguished himself with his dedication, humility and intelligence. During various positions held by him, he has always focused on community service and empowered the margins,” Modi said.
He said, “He has done extensive work at the ground level in Tamil Nadu. I am happy that the NDA family has decided to nominate him as the vice -president of our coalition.”
Modi said that Radhakrishnan has a rich experience as MPs and Governors of various states and his parliamentary intervention was always serious.
The Prime Minister said, “During his Gubrotorial Teenners, he focused on addressing the challenges faced by ordinary citizens. These experiences ensured that they have a huge knowledge of legislative and constitutional matters. I am confident that he would be an inspirational vice -president.”
Nomination of CP Radakrishnan
The bodies, the Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, decided to nominate CP Rudakrishnan.
Earlier on August 7, leaders of NDA Partners had authorized PM Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda to select the candidate for the upcoming election.
Elections to choose the new vice president will be held on 9 September, and the last date for filing nomination is 21 August. Vacancy arose after the assurance, Jagdeep Dhankhar announced a sudden resignation on 21 July, citing health concerns.
Radhakrishnan earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand (2023 to 2024) and had additional charge of Telangana. He also worked as a lieutenant governor of Puducherry.
