Between the ongoing Ukraine struggle and matters in relation to India-Russia relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday spoke on the phone to discuss several issues.
This call was also important as it came under stress between India and the United States to slap the punitive tariff on Indian goods between US President Donald Trump.
Kremlin has reportedly confirmed that Putin and PM Modi discussed business, economic and investment cooperation, news agency Roots Informed He allegedly visited Moscow this week about Trump’s messenger Steve Witcoff.

Not only trade and bilateral relations, both leaders also discussed the Ukraine struggle, Modi said, thank Putin for sharing the latest development on the crisis.
A part of PM Modi’s tweet said, “We also reviewed the progress in our bilateral agenda, and confirmed our commitment to deepen the Indo-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership. I am ready to host President Putin in India at the end of this year.”
The phone call between the two leaders between Trump came to the trade between India and Russia to the fingers. US Presidents are targeting India to buy oil and military equipment from Russia, calling it ‘Russian’s greatest buyer of energy’.
Trump announced a 25 percent tariff on Indian imports last week, and a few days later increased duties in another announcement by 50 percent. Half of the declared levy has been planted, and the additional 25 percent tariff deadline is 27 August.
Meanwhile, National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval met Russia’s first Deputy Prime Minister Dennis Manturov, and the two leaders spoke on several issues, including bilateral military-technical cooperation.
The Russian Embassy posted on X, “Parties discussed the implementation of joint projects in #RussiaIndia military-technical cooperation as well as joint projects in other strategic fields, including civil aircraft manufacturing, metallurgy and chemical industries.”
India has earlier clarified that the decision on sourcing energy is directed by “what is on the proposal in markets and the global status is prevalent”. Similarly, New Delhi last week said that sourcing of defense requirements depends on national security mandatory and strategic assessment. India had said that it shared a time-testing friendship with Russia.
