Since the tick season continues to take steam across the US, a main resident has come to know of a potentially serious tick-borne disease.
The adult, who lives in Hancock County, was admitted to the hospital with the pavson virus after developing “neurological symptoms”, according to the Main Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Main CDC).
The pavson virus is transmitted to humans through an infected woodkuk tick or an infected deer bites.
Ticks spread to new areas across America, bring dangerous diseases and require vigilance
The National Paste Management Association (NPMA) Medical Advisor in Chicago, Dr. George P. Parda said that the pavason virus is rare compared to diseases like lime disease, but “it is still a serious concern.”
“One of the most dangerous aspects is its rapid transmission,” Parda told Fox News Digital.

“Pownson can be transmitted for 15 minutes after 15 minutes of cutting infected tick, while lime disease usually requires 36– to 48 hours of attachment time for transmission.”
Senior Medical Analyst of Fox News, Dr. Mark Seigel confirmed that the virus is transmitted much faster than the disease, with a incubation period of one to four weeks.
Aggressive insects can make a dramatic return in this summer, experts warning
While cases with only seven to eight diagnosis in the US are rare, they are in recent years – mainly in the areas of Northeast and Great Lakes, according to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Along with other tick-borne diseases, the virus is most prevalent through late spring to midnight.
“Most of the tick-related diseases, 10% to 15% are fatal in severe cases.”
The initial symptoms of the pavason virus include fever, headache, vomiting and weakness according to the CDC, although some infected people may not get sick.
In some cases, the virus can cause serious illness, causing inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. In these rare cases, infected people may experience speaking, confusion, loss of coordination and recovery, the health agency warned.
While one can develop serious illness, people at the highest risk include older adults, children and people who are immunocommed.

There are no vaccines available for the pavason virus.
“Unlike most tick-borne diseases, 10% to 15% are fatal in severe cases, and half of the remaining people experience permanent neurological damage,” said Parda.

Many who experience serious illness suffer from prolonged symptoms, including headaches, memory problems, and decline in muscle strength.
According to the main CDC, Pavson is not a specific drug for the virus, with focus on treatment symptoms and complications.

“Since there is no treatment or vaccine for the pavason virus, the prevention is important,” said Parda.
He said that the same tick prevention strategies for lime disease also apply to this virus.
To prevent tick bite, experts recommend using EPA-regulated insect rapeles, with at least 20% of DEET, light colored clothes with long sleeves, and tucking pants into socks when out. (Istock)
According to Parda, using EPA-regulated insect replants, including at least 20% DEET, is wearing light colored clothes with long sleeves and pants are tucking into socks in areas with ticks, and according to Parada, to check the tick after their family and pets are out.
He advised, “We recommend to make our yard shorter by shortening the grass to ticks, and to discourage migration by using gravel or wooden chips to create a ‘tick mut’ between the edge of our property,” he advised.

“The combination of rapid transmission of poveson, serious health results and lack of treatment options creates an emerging public health concern that requires immediate attention to prevention efforts,” the doctor said.
