In a primary school in Midlothian, children were added to a WhatsApp group asking them to send clear photos.
The police have started interrogation in a malicious group, stating the students that “not to tell the parents” they were added to the chat.
Paradykes in the affected Pupils Lonehead are in primary six in primary. Such students are usually nine or 10 age.
A spokesman for the Midlothian Council said that support was available to the children affected by the incident.
The local authority said that the group was not accessed using council-jari equipment given to children at the beginning of the term on Wednesday.
Parents were sent a warning to check their children’s phones and remove them from the group on Thursday.
An email from the head teacher of the school seen by the BBC Scotland News said some messages were “highly inappropriate, which clearly refer to body parts” and “requesting naked photos”.
It states that 84 people were members of the group, warning that it went “beyond children”, which are only from paradykes.
It is understood that some children were targeted on their personal devices.
A council spokesperson said: “A parent emailed a parent today after informing a parents about the concerns about the online safety of children on the WhatsApp group.
“The head teacher has passed the matter to the police, and the council will issue guidance to all parents in Midlothian how to protect your child online.
“Support is available to any paradekes primary school effigy if necessary.”
The guidelines issued by WhatsApp, which are owned by Facebook original company Mata, suggests that messaging service should not be used by people under 13 years of age.
It was reduced by 16 last year.
Police Scotland said that interrogation was going on, but was in an initial stage.
A WhatsApp spokesperson said: “We give all users the option to control which can add them to groups.
“The first time you receive a message from an unknown number and when you are added to a group, we give you more reference and option to exit or block and report.”
