Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly attacked by a person during an incident in a civil lines by a person, a “accident” that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned on Wednesday, saying that police investigation on the matter was going on.
A person was squeezed by the police in connection with the incident during the incident of ‘Jaan Sunavai’ (public hearing) at his residence.
Who is the accused
According to preliminary interrogation, the accused identified himself as 41 -year -old Rajesh from Rajkot, Gujarat. The police was confirming his statement. There is still no clarity on what exactly has happened, with conflicting versions of the people present in this event.
The people of the CM’s office initially said that the Chief Minister was “slapped” and his “hair was drawn”, while Delhi’s BJP President Viradrev Sachdeva later spoke to reporters that the claims were “fabricated” and CM was injured when a man tried to pull him into the incident.
According to the people at the CM office, the Chief Minister was interacting with the citizens and listening to their grievances when a man suddenly moved forward, handed over a piece of paper to the CM, started talking loudly with him, using the experience before slapping him.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor first said that the person physically attacked him by “pulling hair”.
Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, “We are being told that he pulled his hair physically. With the things he said that it seems that this person had a criminal intention and political inclination. He is detained by the police. We are waiting for further inquiries,” Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.
However, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva denied the news of slapping the CM and said that he had hit his head on the edge of a table, when a man suddenly grabbed his hand and tried to pull him.
“CM Jan was interacting with the public during Jana Sunavai when a person approached him, introduced some paper … He suddenly caught his hand while trying to pull him. During this time, there was a little Justling and maybe his head touched a corner a little. People dumped him.” Sachdeva said, other details are being investigated by the police. “We should wait for the investigation to end and more details to emerge.”
He said that CM is all stable and doctors have examined it. “It is a shock. I have met her, she is a strong woman. It seems that the stories that are slapped or throwing stones are fabricated. Jan Sunavai will continue. CM is still resting, but she has said that she will not cancel her programs,” Sachdeva said.
