The house of a couple and their young child was surrounded by a fire with the house with the next door in a suspected arson attack.
The Mercesis police said that petrol was inserted into the front verandah of one of the properties, which was then spread to the other house.
A relative of the woman living in the house said that she was out of the country on holiday with her family, but was “shocked” after the attack at Carlingford Close just before midnight.

The Mercesis police said that there was no injury.
The investigation took place on Friday evening after another attack on Rocksburg Street in Everton.
The force recently accused an elderly couple, Eric Green and Sheela Jackson of killing a person, on 15 July, St. Helens caught fire.
DET Inspector Victoria Lanckele: “We all know well that destruction and fatal results can cause such incredibly dangerous acts and can put the lives of residents at risk on the road.
“It is only bottom to the sheer fate that no one was injured in this incident and it could be very bad.”
