In a 25 -minute extensive interview at the training ground of Chicago Fire, Amorim covered several subjects, including:
-
How he is changing culture in United
-
His relationship with minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe
-
Their confidence club will eventually win the biggest trophies again
-
His dream of staying in a job for 20 years
During the dark days of the previous season, Amorim was repeatedly criticized for refusing to turn his strategic approach.
“Sometimes, when you are losing, you may think that change the standards a little for them [the players] To live with me, “he said.
“I didn’t do it – and they saw it. Now they understand that when I say something, I will do this.
“I do not consider players as infants. But they now have rules and it can change the way you train.
“I’m always at the top. If you don’t train correctly, I have footage to show you. And I show you to everyone.”
Amorim has appointed a leadership group of six players – Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Tom Heton, Diaogo Dalot, Lisandro Martine and Nussaer Majraui – to maintain standards in the dressing room and deal with “small things”.
It is not easy to reach this point.
Amorim admitted that several times in the previous season when he stagger and wondered if he had done the right thing except Portuguese Club Sporting – where he had created his reputation and where he was brought as a hero – mid -sequence.
He did not seek assurance. For Amorim, she says her job adequately.
“Try to remember a team, a big team that loses so many games and the manager put his job,” he said.
“You won’t find it. It shows more than words they support me.”
