New Delhi: Congress said on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer filed a statement citing “threat to his life” without consulting the leader or without obtaining his consent.In a social media post on X, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said that Rahul is “strongly disagree” with the statement and that his lawyers will withdraw the application on Thursday.“Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer filed a written statement in the court, in which he said,” Shrinet, “Shrinet, without citing a threat to his life or his consent.He said, “Rahul Gandhi firmly disagree with this action. Therefore, his lawyers will withdraw this written statement from the court tomorrow.”Shrinet also attached the statement of Rahul’s lawyer Milind Pawar, in which he said that the content of the application was drafted by him without consulting Rahul.In a written application by Pawar, after Power, a Pune court reported that Rahul is facing a “threat to danger” from the complainant, in a case of defamation related to his comments against Savarkar, Bar and the bench.In the application submitted to the court, it was stated that the complainant is a direct descendant of Nathuram Godse and that “preventive protection is not only prudent, but a constitutional obligation on the state.”“Looking at the history of violent and constitutional anti -tendencies associated with the complainant’s lineage … there is a clear, appropriate and sufficient apprehension that Mr. Rahul Gandhi may face loss, wrong implications, or other forms of targeting,” it was presented.“In view of the serious history associated with such a dynasty, defense is a real and appropriate apprehension that history should not be allowed to repeat itself,” said this.Reacting to the petition, Satyaki Savarkar said it was trivial, and was filed with the intention of delaying the test. He said, “The facts mentioned in the application by Gandhi have nothing to do with the current case,” he told reporters.What is the matter?Satyaki Savarkar has filed a complaint against Gandhi, alleging that in a speech made in London in March 2023, the Congress leader claimed that VD Savarkar wrote in a book that he and his five to six friends had once beat a Muslim person and he (Savarkar) felt happy.Satyaki Savarkar said that no such incident happened, and VD Savarkar never wrote any such thing.He has sought Gandhi’s sentence under Section 500 IPC and compensation under Section 357 CRPC.The court has already granted bail to Rahul in the case.
