In a statement viewed by the BBC Radio Shefield, the players said: “As well -propagated, players, coaching and club staff groups in the club have all been affected by delays and overdue payments.
“It has been a worrying time for us as players, but, while we are often in the spotlight, we are not just involved. We stand together in support with all our colleagues employed by the club that have been affected.
“Players and employees are now very concerned about the lack of clarity about the real, practical impact in their professional and personal life and what will be resolved and when it will be resolved.
“The decision to withdraw from the planned favorable with the burnley by the players was not taken lightly or without consideration.
“We fully know about the concern that this will cause supporters, but believe that we have the real understanding of the difficult situation that we have been kept.
“We want to assure fans that there will be no ‘downing’ by either of us in the training field, and will not, and we are all working hard as each other and can support each other, managers and employees.
“However, we, like you, want our focus to be fully on the pitch and on the new season.
“This is proved to be really challenging and we have made the club clear that we want the situation to be addressed as soon as possible so that the decisions taken to not play in the future in future are taken. We can all move together as a club.”
