New Delhi: In a Soo Motu case on dog bites incidents in the national capital, the Supreme Court directed the Delhi government to start choosing stray dogs from all areas, keep them in shelters and do not leave them back to roads, colonies or public places.News agency PTI said, “The court should not fall prey to such attacks, citing public interest on a large scale.The apex court ordered Delhi Government, MCD and NDMC that The court said that a helpline should be set up within a week to report dog bites cases.Currently, animal birth control (ABC) rule, 2023, mandate that stray dogs are sterilized, vaccinated and returned to their original location, thus their transfer is banned. The ABC rules were prepared under the Animal Act, 1960 under the prevention of cruelty, and the Supreme Court has strengthened the principle that street canine should not be transferred.In the first six months of the year, 35,198 animal cutting incidents were reported in the capital. The Standing Committee of MCD formed a subcommittee earlier this month to focus a particular focus on street dog management. The panel held its first meeting on Thursday, during which it decided to re -attach the NGOs involved in the current sterilization program and listed more organizations capable of completing the same task. According to officials, a deep month -long sterilization drive is also being planned.
