A mother discovered online for information about overdose and prison sentence for murder, the day she killed her children, an inquiry has been heard by an inquiry.
Veronic John discovered the morning of June 11, 2023, a few hours ago he asked the police to report that he had killed daughter Elizabeth, Seven and Son Ethan at the family at the family house in Stoke-on-Truce.
The inquiry earlier heard that she was released from custody after attacking her husband. Advisory psychiatrist Dr. Gilian Bennett told on Wednesday that Mrs. John did not fulfill the threshold of insanity at that time.
Mrs. John was detained indefinitely in a safe hospital last year.
Dr. Bennett said that after Mrs. John attacked her husband, she admitted to the police that she had indicated that she understood the nature of the acts and she was wrong.
Ethan John was stabbed 21 times, while his sister was also stabbed and left with a deadly brain injury.
Mr. John said on 9 June that he was attacked. The police saw her with injuries on 10 June and took Mrs. John into custody, Preliminary release on 11 June,
The hearing at the Civic Center in Stoke also heard that a domestic violence conservation notice would have prevented Mrs. John from returning to the family’s house for 48 hours, but a community resolution notice was issued.
An assessment in custody concluded that he did not have signs of acute or permanent mental health conditions, but in the later months, he was detected complex post-tromatic stress disorder and a personality disorder and was not considered fit for the petition in court.
Medical records revealed that Mrs. John was first prescribed antidepressants, and since 2012, a former partner had experienced an abortion, Stillbarth, her mother’s death and domestic abuse from a former partner.
He was sent to a psychiatrist seven years before the death of the children and first tried to end his life.
On June 11, Mr. John informed him that he would not return to live with him, listening to the inquiry.
After the murders, she could not remember what happened. She said she was not sleeping four days ago.
Inspector Bruce Wilkinson said that he decided to issue a community resolution notice, which meant that she was able to return to the family home.
She said that Mrs. John had earlier harassed her husband, or evidence could be found on her phone.
He knew Mr. John’s injuries on 10 June.
According to the police guidance, a community resolution notice should not be issued in the case of domestic violence, including those who were in intimate relationship.
Inspector Wilkinson said that he later realized that he implemented that error.
He said: “I definitely did not think that there was a physical risk for children”.
