The BBC has to reunite with the Met Office for its weather forecast and climate updates, eight years after the relationship between the two organizations ends.
The corporation said that the new partnership announced on Wednesday is aimed at giving “the most reliable and accurate weather service for all in the UK”.
Since September 2017, the BBC has been provided by Dutch Dutch Metogrup for TV, radio and online forecasts, which was later acquired by the US Weather Services Company DTN.
BBC Director General Tim Davi said that the weather is “UK’s favorite conversation” and “all our lives and all our audiences worldwide”.
He said: “The BBC’s world-famous journalism will work closely with the Met office season and climate intelligence to help everyone change science in science and to help everyone in the UK.”
“There is no need for reliable and fair information to help people understand today’s weather.”
No new jobs, or job cuts have been announced as part of the deal.
BBC News understands that it is not a commercial relationship related to purchase, but an agreement between the two organizations in the interests of public service.
‘Changing climate’
Met Office CEO Penny Andersby said on Wednesday: “As the UK National Weather Service, we are again excited to work closely with the BBC.
“Together we can also reach people with the necessary weather information, help them plan their days, when it matters, be safe and keep not informed well in our changing climate.”

The BBC weather forecast will currently come from DTN and an update on the new partnership with the Met Office is expected to “end this year”.
The corporation said in a statement that it “wanted to help more people to be safe, flourish and understand the surprise of the weather”.
