Visitors of the 800 -year -old horse fair say that it is important to keep the tradition alive amid uncertainty about the future of the site.
Organized by the Traveling Community, the annual program, which was previously held, is held to get out of the station road in Brig and regularly attracts thousands of visitors.
The current site is home to the fair from the end of the 1990s, but the Northern Lincolnshire Council said it was reserved to build housing for older people.
Dani, who traveled to the event with his young son, said that people were beginning to realize that they would have to support it otherwise they could lose it. He said: “We have got to fight for it.”
He said: “Everyone mixes, mingling, it is just a cute atmosphere. It is a tradition to really go on.
“Brig is a cute fair because it is cool, everyone knows each other.
“This is a close-bent group that comes here all the time.”
Daug, who has been a part of the fair for more than 30 years and sells horse harness, said that if this incident lost his house it would be a “loss” because he also trusted it for his business.
He said: “Tradition, once you start losing these things, they have gone forever.
“My grandfather used to come on them and brought me along.
“Now, I think this is the same. My boys are not interested, but I have grandchildren, so we are advancing the family tradition.”
The fair had already made way for new development in the brigge several times and is facing the possibility of finding another new house after the council approved the 40 residential apartments, a commercial market and a new village Green with more than eight years of conditions.
Eddie, who has been a regular form at the fair for many years, said: “People gather which you do not see from one year to another. It is very favorable.
“It is very clear that eventually that [the development] Is going to happen
“We would like to continue the fair. I like to come to the brrig because you meet good people.”
If the council develops land, he said that an option may be to move to the center of the city.
A council spokesperson said it had no participation with the organization of the Horse Fair.
