In a emotional tribute posted on Instagram, Hans remembered Lavel as a true visionary. “There are people who dare who dreams, and who take others to those places we do not go on our own,” the actor wrote. “Jim Lavel, who had moved forward in space for a long time and had that kind of boy, for longer than any other person in our planet.”
Apollo 13 Mission Commander died on Thursday in Lake Forest, Illinois. He was 97 years old.

Hans continued, “Many of his trips were not made for the rich or celebrity around the Earth and for the moon, but because such challenges are those who fuel during being alive-and who is better than Jim Lavel to make those trips.”
As he reflected at the time of Lavel’s death, Hans said: “On this night of a full moon, he passes on the sky, to the universe, the stars, the pace of God, on this next journey, on the gym lavell.”

Laval was part of a three-man crew in 1970 which was safely returned to Earth after a space emergency when an important oxygen tank exploded during the Apollo 13 mission. This was the intention of being a third mission for the moon.

Ron Howard, who directed “Apollo 13”, also honored Lavel, whose story he helped bring a new audience to the film Pyari.
Howard shared a heartfelt tribute, with a carousel of images and clips from the film, as well as side-side photos, comparing real-life astronauts with a drawing by Hans.

Howard insisted on how his presence was monumental during the production of “Apollo 13”. “His support for our efforts to make a film inspired authenticity and extended our process in such a way.”
He concluded: “Thank you, sir, for our country to serve you and for mankind.”
Laval’s family shared a statement on his death on Friday.

The most important thing is that he was our hero. We were his unwavering optimism, his feeling of humor, and the way he realized each of us that we can do impossible. He was really one kind.”
