The following is an interview with the Democratic Rape Jason Crowe of Colorado on August 17, 2025 on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brainon”.
Margaret Brainon: And we have now joined the Colorado Democratic Congressman Jason Crowe. It is good to see you personally. Before we start talking about Ukraine, I want to choose something, because you sit in the intelligence committee. The state secretary only said that the legalist Trump came with information in the administration that he is giving visas to individuals with relationships with Hamas, or with organizations related to Hamas. This is a very surprising allegation. Israel controls which enters Gaza and exits. The United States performs all visa screen. So, is there really a blind place that you know about?
Rape. Jason Crow: I don’t know about it. But if this is true, then in fact, it is related. This will be a problem. I mean Hamas is a cruel terrorist organization. They should not travel anywhere. Therefore, if this is happening, it should be stopped immediately. And, you know, to play the role of the intelligence committee.
Margaret Brainon: But the Intelligence Committee was not behind the information presented to the state secretary.
Rape. Crow: I have not been informed about it. I have no information about it.
Margaret Brainon: Okay, on Ukraine: You know that American intelligence evaluation is that the battleground is turning in favor of Russia, despite the fact that Putin will have to rely on Iran and North Korea to maintain this. If neither President Biden nor President Trump were ever ready to do soldiers, then the secretary does not have a point that he would have to take it out at the conversation table?
Rape. Crow: You know, it will exactly finish at the table of a conversation, as most will struggle. But what happened on Friday was a historical embarrassment for the United States. There is no other way to put it. Correct? You hear what Marco Rubio and the President have said. They keep saying that they are dedicating time. They are giving it priority. They are focusing on it. In any conversation, when you are trying to end an armed struggle, it is nothing more important than understanding what your opponent inspires. What is Vladimir Putin Tick doing in this example. Vladimir Putin does not care about the time when we are Nego -we are allocated it, does not care about the B -2 bomber flyover, F -22 does not care about the lineup of fighters. He does not care about any of them. The one who cares about Vladimir Putin is originally three things. He cares about economic pressure in the form of restrictions. He cares about political, diplomatic isolation, a Paria kingdom. And he cares about military defeat. They are three things that will end this struggle if she feels pressure on all those three fronts. And this administration is not ready to do anything to create pressure in any of those three areas.
Margaret Brainon: Well, they have imposed some secondary sanctions, at least here in India, and they have not pulled back. Congress needs Congress to help cancel these sanctions. But big picture, in obstacle, do you think the United States is very hesitant to help Ukraine to win this war till date? President Obama did not send aggressive weapons to Ukraine. President Biden was probably criticized for being very slow in distribution of some weapons.
Rape. Crow: There is no doubt. As you know, I was one of the members of the Congress, which, based on bipartisate, in the first two years of this war, under the biden administration, to more, to more sharp, to really faster. And I was worried that we were just enough to prevent Ukraine from losing and not enough to help them win. And I believe that we did more, and we did it fast, and that we were ready to be more aggressive in providing help and assistance to Ukraine, then they would be in a different position in the battlefield today. But compare what this administration has done, which has given relief to almost all pressure. Like what happened on Friday. American military personnel in uniform, literally, were on their hands and knees, rolling a red carpet for the most deadly dictator of the 21st century. There is someone who has kidnapped and the prisoner is catching thousands of Ukrainian children. There is someone who started this whole war, right? These two-sides-Ice which is entangled in administration, that both sides need to visit the table and interact. Ukraine is suffering. They are suffering. He did not start this war. Russia did it. And somehow we continue to act like Vladimir Putin, which can be brought into the open like the head of any other state. This is a historical embarrassment and defeat for the US foreign policy.
Margaret Brainon: You have served this country in uniform. I am surprised, since you sit in the Armed Services Committee, how comfortable you will be with the United States, which will also show a security guarantee like article five. Is there anything that you should see shoes on the ground to do?
Rape. Crow: I don’t think there will be a way to go to shoes on the ground. But, of course, the United States has assets and ability which I think is necessary for any kind of security guarantee. I think Europe has to come forward with the Army’s forward appearance. But we can provide intelligence. We can provide financial assistance, diplomatic assistance. One of the most important things we can do now, it actually seizes Russian property. It will be very big. It would be a game-changing thing that put pressure on Vladimir Putin. And actually create safety guarantee and reconstruction for Ukraine. There is a Russian assets seized over $ 150 billion, and the United States can lead a coalition to seize that money. Allocate it towards reconstruction, allocate it to safety, allocate it towards the construction of a Ukrainian army that can actually oppose Russia moving forward. But this administration is not ready to do it.
Margaret Brainon: There was also the last administration, they–
Rape. Crow: -This is the right.
Margaret Brainon: They agreed to the law. But on the immigration front, you and your fellow Democratic MPs are now trying to challenge the policy of the Trump administration, which requires notice before visiting an immigration facility. You just visited something. What did you see, and how does it compare the last trip?
Rape. Crow: Okay, an ice detention center in my district, Arora, is in Colorado. I have visited the center that is in the last five years, in six years. And inspection of federal features is one of the most important things that any member of Congress does. Air Force bases, military bases, VA Hospital and Snow Refirmation Center. This administration only tripled the ice budget. It was made the largest federal law enforcement agency in the history of the United States. FBI, ATF, larger than DEA, all other joints. And they are putting in obstacles to stop the overs, to prevent transparency because they were trying to hide what they were doing. this is unacceptable. So we filed a lawsuit to force them to follow the federal law that guarantees us access.
Margaret Brainon: And we will see where the next heads are. Jason Crow, thanks. We will come back right.
