The US National Hurricane Center at Miami said that the storm was built just west of the Kabo Varde Islands, away from the west coast of Africa. Erin was expected to move towards the west. Initial models showed that the storm was expected to strengthen, but it is not an immediate threat to America

By 11 am, Erin’s center was located about 2,305 miles east of the North Level Islands in the West Indies with a maximum continuous winds of 45 mph.
National Weather Service predicted Above weather This year, with the expected number of storms designated between 13 and 18 for the Atlantic Basin, five to nine storms can be formed.
A tropical cyclone becomes a tropical storm when its maximum continuous air speed reaches at least 39 mph. The storms are more powerful with a continuous winds of at least 74 mph. The storm is rated on a scale from category 1 to category 5, the most serious rating. A storm is considered a major storm when it reaches the strength of category 3 with a continuous winds of at least 111 mph.
