A surgeon is scheduled to appear in court in Bodmin on Wednesday, when he was accused of crimes related to dissection of his feet.
Dewon and Cornwall police said that True’s 49-year-old Neil Hopper was accused of two cases of insurance fraud when he allegedly told the insurers that his legs were caused by sepsis and were not self-inspired.
He said that Mr. Hopper, who is originally from the Abbritith, Ceredigian, was also accused of encouraging or assisting the Commission of serious physical damage.
Police said that Mr. Hopper was employed by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust since 2013 until he was arrested in March 2023, police said.
Mr. Hopper has been accused that between 3 to 26 June 2019 he cheated by a wrong representation to the insurer, ie his foot injuries were the result of sepsis and they were not self-inspired.
He also faces the allegation that between 21 August 2018 and 4 December 2020, he bought a video from a website called The Yunuch Maker, in which the organs were removed and he encouraged Marius Gustavason to remove the third party body parts.
A spokesman at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust said: “The allegations are not related to the professional conduct of Mr. Hopper and there is no evidence to suggest any risk to the patients.
“Any questions or anxious patients with any question or concern about his treatment can contact the team of Royal Cornwall Hospitals,” he said.
Mr. Hopper has been suspended from the medical register since December 2023.
