President Donald Trump on Monday announced that he was activating the National Guard soldiers and after increasing the federal law enforcement attendance in the nation’s capital on Saturday, was handling the metropolitan police department to deal with the crime in Washington.
“I am deploying the National Guard to help re -establish laws, orders and public security in Washington, DC,” Trump told reporters at a press conference on Monday. “And they are going to allow their work to be done properly.”
Trump also said that he would make the metropolitan police department federal in Washington to respond to the crime.
National Guard Sainiks are reserved forces that are engaged in response to state and federal operation, including natural disasters, and are usually maintained by the respective state governments. However, Trump deployed National Guard soldiers from California to send California Gowin Gavin Newsom to soldiers to respond to immigration riots in June.
The federal government oversees the Colombia National Guard district.
Trump’s comment comes immediately after recovering, when he promised that Washington would be “free” from “crime, sevari, dirt and scum” in a post on truth social on Monday morning. He said in the post that “innocent people have been abolished the day of brutally killing, or hurting!”

Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday, “Is it a matter of shame – the rate of crime, the rate of maging, murders and everything else, we are not allowing it to go, and it includes bringing it into the national guard, perhaps very early,”.
Trump at the time told reporters that he was open to handle the metropolitan police department of Washington as the crime in the country’s capital is “ridiculous.”
While a temporary federal acquisition of the metropolitan police department is appropriate in cases of emergency, Trump’s move will be challenged in court whether the situation in Washington is eligible as an emergency.
Trump has historically raised against violence in Washington, and said on Tuesday that the crime is “completely out of control” in the country’s capital.
Meanwhile, the crime in Washington is on a decline. According to the metropolitan police department of Washington, compared to the same time limit in 2024, violent offense is 26% down this year. Similarly, attacks with a dangerous weapon are 20%below, and housewives have a 12%decline.

Washington Mayor Muril Boseer challenged Trump’s city details during an interview with MSNBC Sunday, and voiced concerns about the possibility of activating the National Guard to deal with the city’s crime.
“Hyperbolic and wrong in any comparison of the war -torn country,” said Boseer.

“I am worried about them that they are not being used efficiently, and I think it’s not the most efficient use of our guard,” Boseer said.
