US President Donald Trump says he has ordered two nuclear submarines to “deploy” in suitable areas in response to “highly stimulating” comments by former Russian President Dimitri Medvedev.
In a post on social media, Trump said he acted “Just in the case these silly and inflammatory statements are just more. The words are very important, and often can give rise to unexpected results, I hope it will not be one of those examples”.
He did not say where both submarines were being deployed.
Medvedev, in response to Trump’s ultimatum in recent times, has threatened the US that to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine in Moscow, or faced hard restrictions.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Based on the highly provocative statements of former Russian President Dimitri Medvedev, who is now the vice -president of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I ordered to deploy two nuclear submarines in the appropriate areas”.
On Monday, Medvedev accused Trump of playing “ultimatum game with Russia”.
In a post on X, the former Russian President stated that “each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards the war”.
Earlier this month, Medvedev described Trump’s ultimatum as “dramatic”, saying that “Russia did not care”.
And writing on Telegram on Thursday, Medvedev warned of a “dead hand” danger – which some military analysts understood as a reference to the codename of Russia’s anti -anti -nuclear strike control system.
