President Donald Trump warned that his 1 August deadline to make a trade deal with the US on Wednesday threatened several major countries with a large tariff growth.
“August first time limit August is the first time limit – it’s strong, and it will not be extended. A big day for America!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, using the all-cover.
Here are the major countries that still need to interact with the US on deals.
Canada
Trump sent a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in which 35% tariff was threatened, if there was no deal, but the conversation has come to a standstill.

“We were really not much luck with Canada with our neighbor in north with our neighbor on Friday. I think Canada may be one where they would just pay the tariff. It’s not really a conversation.”
Carney himself said on Monday that the conversation had reached the “acute phase”.
“This is a complex interaction. You see with various business deals, which are agreed by other courts – the European Union tomorrow, before Japan, Indonesia, United Kingdom – that have many elements of these talks. We are engaged in them.

Mexico

However, no deal has been done till Wednesday, nor has been vocal about the party where the conversation stands.
According to the USTR, Mexico is the US top source of imports, which is a total of $ 506 billion in 2024. Meanwhile, the US exported $ 334 billion to the country in the same year.
China
Treasury Secretary Scott Besent interacted with Chinese officials in Sweden this week and said on Tuesday that the talks were “very creative”.
He emphasized reporters that no final agreement was signed, however. Unlike most countries, China is facing the deadline of August 12 instead of August 1, giving them some more breathing room for dialogue.
“Nothing agrees until we talk with President Trump,” Besant told reporters.

“All relevant talks are still on,” a source familiar to the talks told Reuters, saying another, the negotiaters were still in the US.
“We hope that these dialogues will meet four objectives: protect national interests, protect industrial interests, ensure public health, and achieve food security. These objectives serve double objectives: promote balanced bilateral trade between Taiwan and America, and to increase cooperation in diverse fields such as technology and national security,” Taiwan’s cabinet said in a statement.
India
Trump has quickly closed the door on India, announcing the truth social that the country will face 25% tariff in the board starting on August 1.
“Remember, while India is our friend, we have, in the last few years, they are relatively low business because their tariffs are very high, which is the highest in the world, and they have the most loud and unpleasant non -modern business obstacles in any country. In addition, they are buying Russia’s biggest purchasing for everyone, – everything is not good!”
