Flood strikes on pilgrimage route in Jammu and Kashmir
On Thursday afternoon, flash floods were swept away through Chasoti village in Kishtar district of Jammu and Kashmir, which severely affected the Machal Mata Yatra pilgrimage route. According to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, at least 60 people – originally pilgrims, suddenly lost their lives in the flood. More than 100 others suffered injuries, and several hundred are still reported to be missing.The disaster sector was rapidly revealed after intense and continuous rainfall. Machel Mata Yatra is an annual religious pilgrimage that attracts thousands of devotees every year.
