The National Space Academy of the UAE Space Agency has partnered with the Edge Group, which is to start a new ten -week program with the aim of training Emiti professionals in satellite engineering and space mission design, the Emirates News Agency said. With the hands-on module given by Edge Assistant Beacon Red and Fada, the initiative is an important step in the creation of sovereign space capabilities and nourishes homegron expertise to run the UAE’s ambitious space agenda.
A strategic push for the emerati space talent
The Space Mission and Satellite Engineering (SMSE) program introduced by the National Space Academy, the next generation is designed to cultivate Emerati engineers, mission leaders and space system architects. This initiative is a strategic loud stems of the United Arab Emirates on the construction of a self-sufficient, innovative space area, with special attention to developing a skilled national workforce. The program is being launched with the Edge under the umbrella of the UAE Space Agency, with Abu Dhabi-based advanced technology and defense group. In particular, two edge assistants, fada and beacons will be responsible for training technical material and hands in the major components of the program.
Program Description – course, structure and location
Set for running from 16 September to 20 November 2025, the SMSE program lasts for ten weeks and is particularly open for UAE citizens. It will be distributed at several places including UAE Space Agency Headquarters, Advanced Training Center of Bicon Red and expert facilities of Fada in Abu Dhabi. The participants will engage in both the in-tradition and online session, directed by local and international experts in the space industry. The course includes five core modules:
- Designing Space Mission (DSM)
- Applied space system engineering (asse)
- Space system verification and verification (ssvv)
- Space Mission Operations (SMO)
- Central Case Project (CCP) – A capstone component that simulates the full life cycle of a real satellite mission, from the plan to justification.
The course emphasizes practical learning, including labs on hands, project-based applications and exposure to industry-standard software and equipment. The site tour for major aerospace and technology organizations within the UAE is also included to provide real -world operational references. Program target:
- Emiri professionals in government and private space areas
- Educational Researchers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
- Recent bachelor’s degrees or higher
Application closed on 25 August 2025.
The role of Edge, Bekan Red and Fada
The Edge Group was established on 5 November 2019, in which it is one of the largest defense and technology groups of Faisal al Bannai, UAE, with more than 12,000 employees in 25 institutions including EDIC, EEIG and Tawazun Holding. Its participation in SMSE shows its expanded footprint in advanced space capabilities. Established in Bicon Red, 2018, is a complete owned age assistant under its Electronic Warfare and Intelligence Cluster. While its main offerings include cyber threatement intelligence, accident response and national security training, the company plays an important role in enabling space -related training as part of the edge space and cyber technologies portfolio. Another age assistant, FADA, especially focuses on sovereign space capabilities. The company develops Earth observation satellites and protects satellite infrastructure against cyber threats. It is actively contributing to the UAE’s SIRB constellation, a radar imaging satellite project, and provides end-to-end space platform development including SAR, optical and infrared payloads.
National Space Academy-Derved Creation
The UAE plays a fundamental role in the creation of the country’s space capabilities through special education and practical training, launched in 2023 under the transformational projects of the Space Agency. As the UAE leads its ambitions in space, the academy technically serves as a central platform for the cultivation of mission-efficient and mission-taiyar amiratis. Its inaugural pilot program, held in early 2023, marked the successful launch of the activities of the academy, trained 51 participants in two phases from January to June. Since then, the Academy has constructed this speed with target, industry-handled colleagues every year.
- Second Kohrt, by title Space applicationLasted from May to August 2024. Developed in collaboration with Bayanat, it focuses on remote sensing and satellite image processing, introducing participants for practical use of Earth observation technologies.
- Third Coort, Applied space system engineeringLater launched in 2024, again in partnership with Edge Group through Bicon Red, provides a 10-week intensive program to candidates of five space-related institutions. This provided training on hands in engineering principles behind satellite systems.
The Space Mission and Satellite Engineering (SMSE) program now become the fourth corort, which expands the prasad of the academy in mission design, operation and end-to-end satellite system training. More than only one educational initiative, supports the academy:
- Special employment opportunities within UAE’s space sector
- Innovation hub development connecting research and applied technologies
- Wide change towards one
knowledge based economy
By increasing its curriculum with real -world glory and industry cooperation, the Academy continues themselves as a major column in the long -term vision of the UAE for the competitive space sector.
