The level of malnutrition inside the Gaza strip has reached a level of famine as assistance begins, UNICEF’s Deputy Executive Director Ted Chabon told Fox News.
“The situation is frightening on the ground in Gaza.” Chabon said. “After 22 months of the war, two months of a blockade by Israel, people are in a terrible position.”
The newly released data shows that a quarter of Gaza’s population, about 500,000 people, are tolerating circumstances like famine.

UNICEF is working with the World Food Program and Food and Agriculture Organization to distribute food and nutrition dosage to Palestinian citizens, but Chabon has warned that commercial access to Gaza is necessary to solve the hunger crisis.
“On our own, we will not be able to meet the needs of two million people,” Chabon said.
Right now, UNICEF has three major requests from the Israeli government and the army that Gaza should approve all the entry of assistance.

UNICEF is requesting that their efforts be complemented by commercial traffic, resolving double use issues of things such as water pipes, and more partners should be allowed to operate inside the enclave.
Human efforts have increased in recent times, in which hundreds of trucks have been allowed to distribute assistance inside the Gaza, in association with palette airDrops by Jordan and UAE. Currently, about 100 trucks a day are providing assistance to central kitchens and warehouses. The United Nations purpose is 400 to 500 trucks in the day working to remove immediate human concerns.
“What is needed to construct the opportunity and the opening of human stagnation,” Chabon said. “To send the aid through all channels and all routes so that it can reach the population.”

UNICEF deputy returned from Gaza’s visit this week. While living there, he saw that the young children suffering from empty market and malnutrition while walking civilized citizens. He believed that the end of the war is the only permanent solution to address the expansion crisis.

“The most important thing is to reach a ceasefire and release of hostages that should not be held in the Gaza Strip, so that Gaza is a more durable basis for those who have gone through a terrible position,” Chaban concluded.
