New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the ground zero in the disaster-Hit Dharli area of Uttarkashi to maintain relief and rescue operations on Wednesday. Central and state agencies are working on a war foot to restore general conditions in affected areas.Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to CM Dhami in the morning to inquire about the measures of the situation and response. “The state government is actively engaged in relief and rescue work,” Dhami told the PM, saying that all agencies are working together to ensure quick support despite the challenges of the weather. PM Modi assured full support from the Center.Dhammi traveled to the region despite bad weather and met families affected by disaster and reviewed the ongoing operations. “Restoring the general situation and ensuring assistance reaches each affected person, the top priority of the state government,” he said. He said that two helicopters have been deployed to supply food and necessary relief materials to the area.To further strengthen the efforts, the Center has sent two chinooks and two MI -17 helicopters from Chandigarh, Sarsawa and Agra. They are being used to help transport heavy equipment at Jolly Grant Airport to help restore road connectivity. Around 125 army and 83 ITBP personnel are on the ground, in which the broke teams have cleaned the routes with the help of more than 100 laborers.The State Health Department has reserved beds at Doon Medical College, Coronation District Hospital and AIIMS Rishikesh. Teams of specialist doctors, including psychiatrists, have been sent to provide care and trauma support in the field.Relief camps have been set up at Harsil and Jhala, while efforts are on to restore power and communication lines. Temporary bridges are also being constructed by NIM and SDRF teams. A senior coordination team along with IAS and IPS officers has been deployed to streamline the overall response.
