Uttarkashi Disaster: 18 Shiva devotees of Madhya Pradesh have also been rescued
The 18-member groups of Shiva devotees of Madhya Pradesh were among the 250 pilgrims rescued from the Uttara-Hit regions of Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand on Friday.
Kanwaria of Morena district in Madhya Pradesh was in the way of Gangotry to collect the Ganges water, when the disaster on Tuesday and the authorities stopped them from moving forward.
After taking shelter at a sukki top for the last few days, the group was brought to Chinyalisore in IAF’s Chinook helicopter on Friday.
Suki Top and her relatives did not have any phone connectivity back home, worried after watching the disastrous flashflud’s scary videos in Dharli, despite trying hard, she could not contact them. Hari Om, who was part of the group, said that on July 28, he left for Gangotry from Madhya Pradesh to collect Ganga water, but due to the disaster in Dharli, he was not allowed to go to Gangotry. He said, “Our plan was to collect Ganga water from Gangotri and offer ‘Jalbhishak’ to the Babu Maharaj temple on 25 August. However, we were not allowed to continue our journey due to disaster,” he said. It is believed that a ‘Jalabhishek’ in the Babu Maharaj temple is believed to cure people of many diseases, Hari Om said. “Since August 5, there were no mobile towers at Sukki Top when there was a disaster. When people saw the disaster at home at home, they got worried and kept calling continuously. When we called at home after reaching Chinyalisaur, we came to know that all 18 families were sitting together in the same courtyard and trying to contact their loved ones,” he said. Asked if he feels unhappy to return home without being able to reach Gangotri, he said, “Instead, I am not happy that because of Bhalenath’s grace, 18 Shiva devotees were saved.” After reaching Chinyalisore, some of them can talk to their relatives who insisted that they return home after collecting Ganga water from Haridwar instead of Gangotry. He said, “We will all go from here to Dehradun, and from there, after filling water in Haridwar, we will go directly home.”
