New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it would have to intervene to investigate the threat of stray dogs in the country as three-judges SC bench started hearing in a case related to stray dogs in the Delhi-National Capital Region. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that it is a vocal minority vs. a silent majority competition that suffers due to dog bites.A batch of top senior advocates led by Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal, who were present for stray dogs and passed through SC that the court order was to be passed on Monday to catch stray dogs. Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Justice Bra Gawai withdrew the case from a bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan and posted it on Thursday to include Justice Nath, Sandeep Mehta and NV Anjaria before the special bench of three-judges. Gawai announced after public resentment on the direction of the apex court that it was passed on Monday, removing all stray dogs and putting them in shelters by the Delhi government and the civilian bodies of Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad. A bench of two-judges said that due to the bites of dog dogs there was a “very serious” situation, resulting in rabies.
