New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the nation on the occasion of National Space Day, congratulated the citizens and appreciated the achievements of scientists, space startups and astronaut Shubhinhu Shukla. Announcing that India is moving with great speed in the global space race, PM Modi said, “Today India is progressing in success technologies like semi-revision engine and electric propulsion.”The Prime Minister recalled his recent meeting with the group’s captain Shubanshu Shukla, who hoisted the slant at the International Space Station earlier this month. “He filled every Indian with pride by hoisting the tricolor at the international space station. At this moment, when he was showing me slant, he is beyond words. In my discussion with the group captain Shubhanshu, I have seen the immense courage and infinite dreams of the youth of New India. To pursue these dreams, we are also going to prepare India’s astronaut pool. Today on Space Day, I invite my young friends to join this astronaut pool to give wings to India’s dreams, ”PM Modi said.He said that we have reached the moon and Mars, and we have to take a look at the deep place.The Prime Minister also urged private players to strengthen their role in space research and innovation. “On August 15, I mentioned several areas, where India should be self-sufficient. Today, I want to tell the country’s space startups that in the next five years, we can make five unicorn in the space sector. Currently, India launches about 5-6 major major majority annually from its soil. I want us to move every week in the next five years.,The Prime Minister underlined India’s growing position as a leader in the region, pointing to his recent achievements. He said, “We have also become the fourth country in the world, which have the ability to docking and ignore in space,” he said, “Getting new milestones one after the other in the space field has become the nature of India and Indian scientists.” He said that just two years ago, India became the first nation to land on the south pole of the moon with Chandrayaan -3.He also highlighted India’s role in inspiring young minds, which was recently hosted in India with participants from more than 60 countries, citing the International Olympiad on astronomy and astronomy physics. PM Modi said, “Indian youth also won medals. It is a symbol of India’s emerging leadership in the Olympiad space sector. I am happy that ISRO has also taken initiatives like Indian Space Hacathon and Robotics to increase the interest of young friends towards space.”The occasion marks the second National Space Day established by PM Modi after successful Chandrayaan -3 landing on 23 August 2023. The theme for 2025, “Aryabhata to Gaganan: Anyer Possibility from ancient knowledge,” reflects India’s journey from ancient astronomical traditions.
