A food and beverage company is making a large component change in one of its cutest snacks.
And the fix comes right beyond this year’s back-to-school season.
Waltham, headquarters in Massachusetts, Welch announced that this week it would remove artificial colors from its fruit snacks.
According to Welch’s news release, the material will be replaced by colors coming from “natural sources”.

The rollouts include three flavor packs: mixed fruits, berries n cherries and fruit punch.

“It is an important milestone in the commitment of the fruit snacks of the welch, which is to use colors especially to use colors from natural sources in all products in the portfolio in early 2026,” according to the release.

Jason Levin, Chief Marketing Officer of PIM Brands, consumers and their families said It is always the top priority.
“The move from natural sources began a decade ago a decade ago and is already reflected in products started from 2018,” Levin said in the release.

Mixed fruit snacks of welch currently have natural and artificial tastes: anato (color), turmeric (color), red 40 and blue 1.

The US Health and Human Services Department (HHS) announced in April that it would work with industry leaders to eliminate synthetic pigments from food supply by the end of next year.
The dyes have red 40 and blue 1 to get rid of HHS.

According to the webmd, the red 40 is associated with increasing over -activism, possibly irritability and greater sensitivity to children.
