Authoriites pushed back against the possibility that Brinks’ family was targeted, ASP director Colonel Mike Hagar announced at a Thursday news conference that investigators were not indicated that the daughters were targeted.

Officials said two children of the couple were not hurt and were being taken care of by family members.
Hagar said McGain maintained “injuries” during the attack. The blood found on the spot helped the authorities find suspects, he said.
Hagar said that McGain confirmed the crime and DNA evidence confirmed his participation.
“Although everyone is innocent until he is guilty, we confirmed this morning that the suspect’s DNA is a positive match for DNA recovered at the crime site,” Hagar said. “During an interview with the investigators, the suspect admitted to committing the murders. We also conducted a search warrant at his residence and recovered the objects to suit the crime.”
