Ukraine’s Volodimier Zelansky has stated that he and Donald Trump have discussed sanctions against Russia, defense cooperation and drone production, which is before Moscow’s visit by American messenger Steve Witcoff.
Thanking Trump to the “productive” dialogue on Tuesday, Zelancesi claimed that Moscow was “sensitive” to the possibility of particular restrictions.
Trump has earlier stated that if Russia fails to agree on a ceasefire with Ukraine by Friday, he will face secondary sanctions imposed against them or will look at the secondary sanctions imposed against all those who trade with it.
Witcoff is considered to travel to Russia tomorrow or Thursday and is expected to meet Vladimir Putin.
Kremlin has mostly reduced the danger of Trump’s sanctions, although spokesperson Dimitri Peskov noted last week that the Russian economy developed a certain immunity for restrictions due to them being subject to them for so long. Trump also admitted that he did not know that the sanctions “disturbed” Putin.
The US President would be hoping that Russia’s business partners would be sufficiently inconvenient by tariffs that they would choose a pivot away from buying Moscow oil – eventually the Kremlin needs to continue his war on Ukraine, denting the revenue.
On Monday, Trump said that he would be Put heavy new tariffs on IndiaA major buyer of Russian oil, alleging that “how many people in Ukraine are being killed by Russian war machine”. Kremlin stated that “was” illegal “to force countries to cut trade relations with Russia”.
In his telegram post, Zelansky said that he and Trump had also talked about the “increased cruelty” of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The US President has previously mentioned repeated attacks of Moscow on Ukrainian cities, indicating that bombings often follow the “good” phone conversation between himself and Putin.
Only last February was asked to leave the White House after a disastrous meeting in which the US President accused him that he was not sufficient enough for American assistance and “Gambling with World War 3”.
Both people have gradually repaired their relationship. In July, Trump said that the US would sell the “top-of-the-line weapons” to NATO members that would then pass them to Kiev-and this week it was announced that Denmark, Norway, Netherlands and Sweden would be the first countries to buy weapons from the US under the scheme.
Their joint contribution will be an amount of more than $ 1bn and it will go to the air defense equipment and yield.
Danish Defense Minister Trolls Lund Paulson stated that the speed was “absolutely important” and this Denmark would later be ready to consider additional money.
For more than three years from Russia’s full -scale invasion, Ukrainian cities come under heavy bombing and regular drone attacks. Officials said six people were killed in East Ukraine the previous day.
Before taking over, Trump repeatedly said that he would be able to end the struggle within a day – and it was at his behest that Russia and Ukraine were seated for the first time in the ceasefire in May.
But the discussion failed to bring both sides closer to peace and US President appeared fast impatient with a lack of progress.
Despite Trump’s deadline, Vladimir Putin last week poured cold water on any expectation of a fast, long -term ceasefire with Ukraine. However, he said that he saw the conversation with Kiev “positively”, he also said that “all disappointments arise from the expectations”.
